Litigation is much like chess. We chose the Rook as our emblem because it is the only piece on the board which can protect its king by castling – placing itself in the line of fire. The rook is adept at delivering checkmate. At the end of the game there is a winner and a loser, or a draw. The players seek to win, not draw. Those with the best strategy and tactics accomplish that goal. A draw is often unacceptable to our clients. At that juncture, Watson is the beginning to the solution.

Steve Watson is known by his peers as a lawyers’ lawyer. He is tough, but fair and respects the law. He places his clients’ interests above his – always. Throughout his career, he has both sued and defended multinational corporations in most verticals on both sides of the Atlantic. He has managed countless high dollar bet the company cases. In short, he knows how to capitalize on his opponents’ weaknesses to win the match.
Steve is trusted by general counsel to act in their stead. He is often retained in anticipation of litigation to consult and counsel regarding the strategic plan: Which venue, which law firms to retain, which experts, key witnesses, driving facts and documents? Which leverage points? In essence, the blueprint of the litigation. In this scenario, he generally begins with his clients’ intended ending and works back to view the big picture. Other times, he is called in during pending litigation for new insight. Litigation strategy is often the resultant of an array of factors. Often in litigation, a different perspective of the forest from the trees can change the course of the action and its outcome. In either scenario, the end game is always the focus. The ability to foresee the future is key.
